Over the years we have raised and taken care of some pretty amazing American Bullies. We treat them like they’re our babies and we strive to find the best products for their well-being. There are so many amazing products that we have come across. We are super exited to share them with you all!
Some dogs are more prone to ear infections than others. This low cost non-irritating formula keeps the ear clean and also dries the ear canal. The Ketoconazole helps prevent chronic ear problems helping you avoid expensive vet visits! Follow the instructions on the back of the bottle and be sure to purchase the cotton rounds to clean away debris and help dry the ear.
Skin and coat issues can be very difficult to deal with and vet visits for these issues can become very expensive. One of the first steps of treating your dogs skin issues is to find the root cause. In the American Bully breed one of the most common coat issues is diet. A lot of American Bullies are allergic to chicken. Your dog could eat chicken all it’s life and at 5 years old develop a skin allergy. One of the first things we recommend is finding a salmon based food. It’s very important to check the ingredients being sure there is no kinds of chicken listed. Once you have found a replacement food it is also very important to make a smooth transition in changing your dog’s food. An instant change could upset your dog’s stomach causing diarrhea. The first couple of days your dog’s normal serving you will have 1/4 of your new salmon food and 3/4 of your old food. Then for the next couple of days your dog’s normal serving will be 1/2 of the new salmon food and 1/2 of the old food. You will then do a 3/4 of your new salmon food and 1/4 of your dogs old food. Finally in the next couple of days you will be able to make the full transition to your new salmon food.
In the meantime as you are transitioning your dog’s new food you want to follow these next steps. You are going to take your Chlorhexidine Solution and following the directions on the back of the jug safely dilute the solution in a spray bottle. This is not hard at all as the directions are very clear. With the now diluted solution spray all of your dogs open wounds letting the solution set on the wounds for at least 3 minutes. Then dab dry. You then want to take your Douxo S3 shampoo and bathe your dog being sure to lather your dog’s entire body staying away from the head. Massage the shampoo into the skin being sure to add a little extra attention to the irritated areas. Leave the shampoo on for 5 – 10 minutes then rinse. Dry your dog off being sure your dog is completely dry. You then want to take your Douxo S3 Mousse and massage it into the irritated areas. This product you will leave on. Do not rinse. Use the Mousse three times a week and shampoo once a week until skin is healed. You can spray the diluted Chlorhexidine Solution on the wounds before every bath. After using these products be sure to wash your hands! Please keep in mind if your dog has had these skin issues going on for a while, all the scratching may have caused a skin infection. A skin infection will require an antibiotic from the vet. Nothing else will be needed from the vet other than that antibiotic.
For dogs with no skin issues, but just smell really bad, we have another wonderful soap we recommend. Bark2Basic’s Deodorizing Dog Shampoo will knock out all bad smells leaving your dog smelling and feeling amazing! This is another one of our favorite products.
All these item are listed above! You will also see Douxo S3 pads in the carousel. They can be used for those irritated paws. We also included some Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil to the list. As we also use this product to keep our dog’s coats top tier!
